Teachers of Juniors (Years 9 and 10), fixed term.

Due to roll growth, we are looking for three teachers for predominantly Years 9 and 10, to cover a range of subjects as well as the possibility of some senior classes or teaching in our Wednesday programme (career-based contextual teaching).

The successful applicants will have a passion for raising student achievement and will have high expectations of students and themselves. You will have the ability and willingness to teach individually as well as collaboratively in a high equity index, multicultural school as well as adapt to or implement changes in teaching and learning methods. The positions may suit primary or intermediate-trained teachers.

We are a growing kura and this is an amazing opportunity to be a part of our growth and future success.

To commence as soon as possible by negotiation and finishing on 13 December 2024. There is the possibility that one or more of these positions will become permanent next year for the right person.

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the Secondary Teachers Collective Agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $62K to $90k, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. Individuals actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.

Head of Pro-Jects and Electives - 2MUs, 1MMA

Here at Papakura High School we are committed to providing our learners access to an education that prepares Akonga for their future pathways. To achieve this, we have created innovative and progressive learning opportunities that we have called Pro-Jects and Electives and are in our second year of running and developing them. Through Pro-Jects, students have the opportunity to engage in learning that is connected to a variety of Professional-Pathways that students are supported to choose from as they consider their future. These Pro-Jects all align with Vocational Pathways, are authentic and meaningful, and provide real-world exposure to - and mentoring by - community partners. Through Electives, students have the opportunity to develop their social, emotional and leadership skills through sports, culture, arts, clubs and participation in a wide range of Student Councils.

In order to continue developing and growing these areas, we are looking for an innovative, collaborative, creative, and solution-orientated Kaiako to lead this exciting and fast developing learning area. With over 80 separate programmes being planned, run and facilitated in 2024 alone, we are looking for someone who is both visionary and skilled at working with several key stake-holders, including students, Kiako, support staff and members of the community/local businesses.

HOD Whaia te Amorangi - 2MUs, 2MMAs

We are looking for a leader (HOD) for our Whaia te Amorangi classes which are for students needing more support in their learning in order to gain academic success.

The successful applicant will have proven success in engaging with disengaged students and their whānau leading to the students' achieving in school.

We looking for a  new Groundsman/Gardener with suitable experience and skills to join the busy Property Management Team. 

The Groundsman/Gardener role is to support the Property Manager, Business Manager, Principal, Board of Trustees, “to manage the maintenance and development of a safe, healthy, attractive and welcoming outdoor learning environment”.

A strong work ethic and a willingness to be part of a team that is passionate about the mission of developing and maintaining excellent standards in grounds-keeping and school facilities management. The candidate needs to be a person with initiative and good self-management skills to keep the grounds looking their best. The position comes with an immediate start date for the candidate selected for the role.

Skills and experience required:

  • Experience in driving tractors, mowers and using other outdoor equipment

  • Some knowledge of turf management would be advantageous

  • Sports field marking

  • Skills in maintaining and developing gardens

  • Proven ability to work within a team environment

  • A passion for excellence in work outputs

The role also requires a degree of flexibility to work with others in the Property Management team with set-up for regular and annual school events, daily collection of rubbish with the school caretaker and other school facility tasks as/when required.

All appropriate personal Health and Safety equipment is provided with the role.

Arts Coordinator / Careers admin assistant

Part time (10 hours per week) - Term time only

We are looking for someone to assist with the administration in two of our departments, Art and Careers. You will be involved in the day to day administration as well as in organising events, such as expos and exhibitions. Hours are flexible and negotiable with the HoDs of both departments.

This would suit someone who looking to work for just a few hours a week during the school terms only, such as a student or for anyone wanting to gain experience working in a High School environment. Occasionally you may be asked to work outside of school hours (evenings).

We are seeking to employ a registered teacher who has a passion for working with disadvantaged young people for our Alternative Education unit, Te Aoatea.

To commence as soon as possible by negotiation.

Knowledge of the changes to the NZ Curriculum is essential, especially in literacy and numeracy.

A primary-trained teacher may suit the position.

Knowledge of Tikanga and Te Ao Māori would be an advantage and the ability to build positive relationships with rangatahi and their whānau is essential.
