Junior Courses

•   All students are encouraged to maximise their potential. Alongside the Academic Institute there are broad banded classes for other students at Years 9 and 10. Extension is also provided for these students in local and international competitions in a range of subjects, including Science, Mathematics and Languages. Papakura High School has established a Sports Institute programme for students who have both sporting and academic ability. Students from overseas may need to study a programme of English as a second language.

Academic Institute


Year 8 students who are academically able are invited to sit special examinations to gain entry into the Academic Institute classes. These classes are extension and enrichment classes which offer capable and motivated students additional opportunities to improve their academic progress. Five annual scholarships are offered by the Papakura High School Board of Trustees to the higher scoring candidates. Academic Institute students have the opportunity to study an International language at Year 9 and beyond.

Sport Academy


Year 8 students who are talented sportsmen and sportswomen are invited to sit an examination and an interview to gain entry into the Sport Academy class. This class offers additional opportunities in the
fields of sports and health to students who show an outstanding commitment to sports.
