Whanau Sports Day
whanau sports day - Recent News - News and Events - Papakura High School
The whole community of Papakura High School enjoyed a wonderful, colourful and exciting annual sports day on Friday 3 March. A departure from the past, the event was held here on our school grounds instead of the usual venue of Massey Park.
This was the first time our new whānau structure came to the fore, with purple, orange and yellow visible right across the school, in particular, on the field where the sports were taking place. We were extremely fortunate to have the support of a two local policeman with their music truck present on site for the whole day, one acted as the MC on the PA system and the other as the DJ providing the musical entertainment of the day. With a mixture of serious athletic and fun events, students and staff alike enjoyed a sunny and happy day. Our Polyfest groups provided delicious meals and snacks throughout the day. The day ended with each whānau coming up to do their chant - easily won by Kirikiri who presented a most impressive performance. The shock of the day was Otuuwairoa whānau being the overall winners!
