WHY IS "SOCIAL SCIENCE" SO COOL?...

What is the most important thing in the world?  It is people, it is people, it is people!

           In order to understand the WORLD that we live in, we must first try to understand it's                  DIVERSITY, it's DEVELOPMENT,  it's ISSUES and it's HUMANITY.  

       The Social Sciences offer students the opportunity to broaden their view of our rapidly                               changing world and enable them to become engaged, confident and socially

     aware members of society.

                 Students will also develop the knowledge and skills to enable them to: 

      *  Better understand, participate in, and contribute to the local, national 

and global communities in which they live and work

*  Engage critically with societal issues

   *  Evaluate the sustainability of alternative social, economic, 

political and environmental practices

          Topic contexts are drawn from past, present and future as well as from places 

within and beyond Aotearoa, New Zealand.
