Papakura Student Art Flag Competition
The Papakura Student Art Flag Competition is promoted to celebrate Youth, Matariki and Papakura through the arts. It is an initiative run by the Papakura Local Board and the Papakura Youth Council. They received 230 entries and the judges were highly impressed with all the artwork submitted by students throughout Papakura. Two of the four Matariki flag finalists were Alan Gregory and Tia Rangi-Dixon from Papakura High School. Linda Patthamang was the only entry from our school in the Papakura Flag category and she was also selected as a finalist. These flags were designed as part of an assessment for Level 3 Art Design.
This project provides a great opportunity for young people to create Street Flag Designs to adorn the Papakura Main Street. The Matariki flags were installed on the Papakura Town Centre flagpoles on the 25 June and will be up for one month. The Papakura flags will be installed on 25 July and will remain up until 25 August 2016..
