Learning Assistant in Nga Manu Rere (Learning Support dept.)

We are looking for a part time, fixed term learning assistant to join our growing kura.

This position is term time only and fixed term as it is dependent on Ministry of Education funding attached to students who require additional support in the classroom.

Days/Hours of work: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, approximately 18 hours/week. 

We are a culturally vibrant kura currently experiencing roll growth.  The successful applicant will mainly be based in Ngā Manu Rere (our learning support department) but will also be expected to assist in mainstream classes when required.

The successful applicant will be dynamic, motivated, punctual and reliable and have a passion for working with young people with special educational needs to improve outcomes and ensure they reach their full potential. You will have strong cultural competency to be relevant to Māori and Pasifika students. Some knowledge of Te Reo Māori would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite for the position.

Previous experience in a low equity index school or similar environment is highly desirable.
